There are a number of benefits in
choosing STYLEman that are only apparent on technical inspection.
These benefits are manifest in the underlying design, development
standards and toolsets used. The key highlights are:
- User Interface Independence
- CASE modelled database design
- Developed to rigorous programming standards
- Database and source code audits welcomed
STYLEman has been designed to separate the user interface,
business logic and database access components, allowing great flexibility
in the choice of user interface and database, whilst retaining common
business logic, as shown in the diagram below. It also means that
STYLEman may be deployed in a variety of configurations, so
that it can scale to hundreds and thousands of users by adding more
resources to the network. STYLEman has been developed using
the Progress 4GL and is therefore hardware independent, running on
most Unix, Windows and AS/400 platforms and database independent,
running over most common database management systems.
The database is designed and maintained using ERwin, a data-modelling
tool that not only enforces consistency of design, but also generates
sophisticated database documentation. The resulting database schema
may be deployed as a Progress database, or over any other Progress-supported
database shown below. |

| "In searching for a company to provide
us with software to control our complex international operation
more effectively and accurately, our priority was to find a
company that would be more akin to a partner than a supplier." |
